Listen, Understand and Heal.
Hello and welcome! My name is Efren, I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) practicing for about 7 years in the state of California and currently based in Los Angeles. I earned my BA in Psychology from UC Santa Cruz and my Masters in Social Work from USC. I currently work in a Telehealth setting, working with adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, cultural trauma, among other mental health challenges. I am trained in EMDR and use this to treat PTSD and also treat early attachment wounds that have struggled to heal over the years.
In my practice and with the help of EMDR, I focus on those early relationships formed in early childhood and help you connect with what's missing and misunderstood. In my work, I hope to connect with those deep feelings of abandonment, unworthiness and help heal these early attachment wounds. I bring a lot of education on how trauma, big or small, can show up in your body and mind, and help build self-regulation skills to help you learn to manage your self.
My goals for sessions are to help you listen to your body, mind and help you understand what is happening with your emotions. I help create a safe environment to help you experience emotions safely, learning to manage them and assisting you in finding the courage to heal. Part of my social identity is also being Mexican-American and I also work with many Latino males, struggling to understand their own emotions and assist in tackling mental health stigmas present in the Latino community, particularly around males.
If you are curious, confused, uncertain or just want to try something new, schedule a 15 minute consultation with myself and lets talk about it. I invite questions and hope to provide as much information to help you make the decision of beginning your therapeutic journey.
